Matthew A. Reidenbach

Department of Environmental Sciences
University of Virginia

Matt Reidenbach's primary area of research and teaching is coastal oceanography, with an emphasis on how hydrodynamics impact marine organisms and their ecosystems. His current research studies include the effects of flow and turbulence on nutrient exchange in coral reefs, larval transport in estuaries, chemical dispersion in the ocean, and wave dynamics. Additionally, he investigates coastal resilience and nature-based solutions for coastal protection. Reidenbach is a recipient of the CAREER award from the National Science Foundation and an All-University teaching award from the University of Virginia. He also has a faculty appointment (by courtesy) within the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering.
